Mormon Sabbath Sunday Confusion / Beware the False Missionary

THE STORY FOR THE PUBLIC

Mormons are “known in New York City”, and around the world, “for clean-cut young missionaries in pressed white shirts”.  (Clare Trapasso, Mormon Helping Hands mobilizes for storm-ravaged Rockaways and Broad Channel, New York Daily News, 13 Nov 2012)

SUCH BELIEVERS -- WITH THE LIPS

If you talk to these people, they’ll swear up and down that Joseph Smith was a prophet, who put together the Book of Mormon and the Doctrines and Covenants.  They’ll even claim they believe in this stuff.

Like this commandment:

“And the inhabitants of Zion shall also observe the Sabbath day to keep it holy.” (Joseph Smith, Doctrines and Covenants 68:29, 1831)

That’s the seventh day, or Saturday:

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.  (Exodus 20, Holy Bible)

WHICH THE MORMONS ADMIT

The Mormons could hardly deny this, so:

"The Sabbath is the Lord's day, set apart each week for rest and worship. In Old Testament times, God's covenant people observed the Sabbath on the seventh day of the week because God rested on the seventh day when He had created the earth." (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Website, Sabbath, Gospel Topics)

THINKING TO CHANGE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
Of course, the modern-day Mormon cult scorns these commandments.  They go about their ordinary work on the Sabbath, and gather briefly at their clubhouses on Sundays:  "After the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, which occurred on the first day of the week, the Lord's disciples began observing the Sabbath on the first day of the week, Sunday (see Acts 20:7)."  (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Website, Sabbath, Gospel Topics)  While desecrating the Sabbath of the Lord -- each and every week.

Acts 20:7 doesn't say what the missionaries claim:

And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.  (Acts 20:7, Holy Bible)  No mention of either Sabbath celebration, or Sabbath change.

How can these Mormons get away with misrepresenting basic Bible teachings?

They let themselves “be seduced by evil spirits, or doctrines of devils, or the commandments of men; for some are of men, and others of devils.”  (Joseph Smith, Doctrines and Covenants 46:7, 1831)

The Mormon Sunday worship certainly doesn’t comply with the commandments of God.  So take your pick: 1) Modern Mormon practice is governed by the “commandments of men”, or 2) the “doctrines of devils” (per Joseph Smith, Doctrines and Covenants 46:7, 1831).

Or, as Jesus put it, "For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men".  (Mark 7:8, Holy Bible)

Oh, the Mormons still manage to fool all of the people some of the time: “It boggles my mind that there are still good people left like that in the world”.  (Jim O’Connor cited in Clare Trapasso, Mormon Helping Hands mobilizes for storm-ravaged Rockaways and Broad Channel, New York Daily News, 13 Nov 2012)

And then they manage to fool some of the people all of the time: “In 2010 there were an estimated 14.1 million Mormons”.  (Mormons, Wikipedia)

But the Mormons can’t fool all the people all of the time.

And God none of the time.

But doesn’t it help the Mormons to be a member of their temples?

“And after that you have received this, if you keep not my commandments you cannot be saved in the kingdom of my Father.” (Joseph Smith, Doctrines & Covenants 18:46, 1829)
